The new dates for the 2013 Building Energy Efficiency Standards to go into effect have been set by the California Energy Comission, allowing for new software and more time for building departments to adapt.

Watt is a dance club that harvests energy generated by people dancing on the dance floor. The energy produced by the floor in Watt are used to power the light show on and around the floor. The company that produces the floor, Sustainable Dance Floors, said the energy could easily be diverted to power other parts of the club as well. In addition to the dance floor, Watt has rain water fed toilets and fully recyclable bar. I know if I’m every in Rotterdam, I’m checking this place out!

BPC Releases Policy Recommendations to Build on U.S. Energy Abundance and Efficiency Gains

The Bipartisan Policy Center released a report on February 27, 2013 that encourages building on top of current efficiency gains. California continues to lead the way in energy efficiency and programs that encourage energy efficiency. The report encourages the extension of current federal, state, and local programs.
